Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej and is now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born December 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to score a of 10 in the Olympic event. Bela Karolyi, who later became a Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci as she was only seven years old. The first time she competed at the national junior championships 1969 where she placed 13th. She took the title in 1970. At her first international event in 1972, which was a pre Olympic junior event for countries of the communist bloc she took home three gold medals In 1973 and 1974, she won the all-around junior championship. She topped Russian Lyudmila Torishcheva. The five-time European Champion at her first international senior competition in the year 1975. In this event she took home four golds as well as a silver. In 1976, she took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and was the first female ever to remove the parallel bars and to use a double backward salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her career in the entertainment business started in her teen years when she began doing figure skating with her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol entered the entertainment business in her teenage years. In her early years she was a figure skater for traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating spectacles.
